The 9th Texas
Sculpture Symposium, co-chaired by Sara Waters,
professor in sculpture at Texas Tech University and
Greg Metz, Senior Lecturer at the University of
Texas at Dallas, was held at the TTU Junction Center
Campus November 3 -5, 2006. Over 100 professional
and student sculptors attended the symposium. Each
was encouraged to come to the symposium with a
recent sculpture no larger than 12 inches in each
dimension.
The 3-day symposium featured Mel
Chin as the Keynote Speaker and Mary Jane Jacob,
Chair and Professor of Sculpture at the School of
the Art Institute of Chicago, as Closing Speaker.
Numerous Texas-based artists, gallerists, and
professionals also participated in the symposium.
Selections, made by Greg Metz,
were displayed in the Studio Gallery of the TTU
School of Art early in 2007. Below see the selected
artists and works.
