A Journey Arthur J. Hand has for the past seven years been photographing his wife, Janette Maley, and her battle with cancer. Initially, the photographs started as a recorded memory of what her body was before surgery, but the images continued. Hand has documented his wife through chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and her new life. The images show what life is for a woman facing this illness. In this series Arthur Hand shares his wife’s journey and the journeys of countless women throughout the world.
Janette died in September 2006 and this
exhibition is dedicated to her memory.
