5x7 Art Events Take on a Whole New

Meaning on November 15th.

The Medici Circle – Supporters of the School of Art proudly present an evening of Art, Food, Wine and Entertainment.  You will have such a great time you will almost forget that the goal is to raise funds to support new scholarship endowments at the School of Art for next the generations of artists, art educators, graphic designers and scholars.  Here’s what’s in store.
Over 100 artists from around the country, with close ties to the Texas Tech School of Art, have donated 5x7 artworks to be displayed anonymously and sold during the evening of the fundraiser. They will be available for purchase during the evening each for only $75. Regardless of their retail value, each work will sell for $75! Some of the works available are valued at over $500; some are by nationally famous artists; many by our favorite local artists. This is a great chance to begin a collection of artworks. For those you who will not be attending the fundraiser, you still have the chance to purchase one or more of these works for only $75 each. Any works not sold on the evening of the fundraiser will be available on a first come, first served basis to anyone willing to send us a $75 check for the artwork (plus $5 for shipping & handling). Interested? Send us an e-mail telling us the number and title of the piece you are interested in and you will have first right of refusal on the work. The slideshow of images is accessible from the homepage.

Dinner will consist of five light courses prepared by guest chef Rodney Muirhead, Culinary Institute of America trained  and chef and co-owner of Podnah’s of Portland, Oregon.  Renown in Portland for his slow-smoked meats, Podnah’s was ranked one of the TOP 10 restaurants of Portland in Portland Magazine last fall.  Rodney will pair each of the courses with a different wine to complement the experience.

Ken Little, alumnus of the School of Art who is a nationally recognized sculptor, is also a singer-songwriter who will provide the evening’s entertainment.  Ken and his band provide a contemporary blend of country and rock that is delightful and will make you want to get up and dance.

Ken Little has generously donated one of his signature deer head sculptures to be raffled off during the event – one chance for the drawing is included in the price of each ticket. Make it an evening with your friends, buy a table of eight seats.
