Assistant Professor in 20th/21st Century Art History and Critical Theory

Dr. Jorgelina Orfila joined the Art History faculty in fall 2009 as the Assistant Professor of 20th/21st Century Art History and Critical Theory. Before joining our faculty, she spent the last eight years living and working in Washington DC at the National Gallery of Art, where most recently, she has served as the Chester Dale Exhibition Research Fellow. Originally from Argentina, her Ph.D. is from the University of Maryland - her dissertation was on Paul Cézanne and the Making of Modern Art History. She has curated numerous exhibitions and published various articles in her areas of special interest which include Paul Cezanne, 19th Century European Art, History of Perspective, and Philosophy of Space among others.
