Sang-Mi YooSang-Mi Yoo (MFA)
Associate Professor

Korean-born artist, Sang-Mi Yoo is currently living in Lubbock, Texas, teaching at Texas Tech University as an Associate Professor of Art. Her printmedia and installations obscure the distinction between perception and reality, the past and the present, revealing the contradictions of our fixed way of seeing everyday life and values. Yoo received her MFA in printmaking from The Ohio State University in 2001 and BFA in Painting from Seoul National University in 1992. She was awarded a 2010 Puffin Foundation Artist Grant, 2009 Springfield Art Museum Purchase Award, 2007 Texas Tech Arts and Humanities Project Grant and 2004 Jentel Artist Residency Fellowship. She has had exhibitions in national and international venues, including the Museum of Printing History in Houston, Moonshin Museum at Sookmyung Women’s University (Seoul, Korea), Gyeongnam International Art Festival (Changwon, Korea), 2008 Pacific Rim International Print Exhibition (New Zealand), The 13th Seoul Space International Print Biennial (Seoul, Korea), and Art Chicago 2003/04. Her prints are included in permanent collections at National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea, Springfield Art Museum and The Museum of Texas Tech University, among others.
