To support its students in reaching their educational goals, the School of Art (SoA) employs a blended academic advising model that offers the best of both professional academic advising and faculty mentoring. All students are required to meet with the SoA Academic Advisor, Ryan Scheckel, each semester prior to advance registration to review their degree progress, discuss schedule planning, and address any questions or concerns student may have in their educational experience.
Additionally, students who have been admitted to declared programs/emphasis areas must also meet with a Faculty Mentor for guidance on course selection and students’ development as an artist, professional, or educator.
The Faculty Mentors in the different programs/emphasis areas are as follows:
|Art History||Janis Elliott, Ph. D. or Esen Öğüş, Ph.D.|
|Ceramics||Juan Granados or Von Venhuizen|
|Communication Design||Carla Tedeschi, Dirk Fowler, Francisco Ortega, Ph.D.|
|Jewelry Design + Metalsmithing||Rob Glover|
