Animal and Food Sciences
The Department of Animal and Food Sciences (AFS) has 21 faculty members, 3 of which are active in water related research and education. The department represents many areas within the Animal and Food Sciences disciplines in Texas. All faculty are involved in water research and education in some way, which includes animal enterprises, meat processing, or milk processing. Faculty expertise that relates directly to water includes:
- Water intake and quality for livestock.
- Efficient use of water for meat animal production and meat processing.
- Water use in dairy production facilities and recycling of water.
- Waste water regeneration at packing plants.
