Lourdes Portillo - Director Producer - Senorita Extraviada
Mexico-born, Chicana identified writer, director, and producer Lourdes Portillo took part in Texas Tech’s 2006 Hispanic Culture Awareness week. Ms. Portillo focused her presentation on her most recent film Señorita Extraviada (“Missing Young Women”). In her film Ms. Portillo deals with the female homicides in Ciudad Juarez. Ms. Portillo spoke about the 18 months she spent with the families while she filed the documentary. She also spoke about how as a film maker she felt compelled to bring their story to the world.
