Texas Tech Quality Service Awards Program

Quality Service & Professional Development administers the program with support from the Office of the Chancellor, Office of the President, and Human Resource Services.

Purpose

To recognize and reward individual and group efforts in supporting the Quality Service Philosophy of Texas Tech.  This program is for benefits-eligible staff.

Texas Tech Quality Service Award

Each year, a maximum of 30 awards will be presented:

• Cash Award $500 (less taxes)
• Lapel Pin
• Engraved Award

Chancellor's Award of Excellence

Each year, a maximum of 2 awards will be presented:

• Cash Award $1,500 (less taxes)
• Lapel Pin
• Engraved Award

Recognition Process

Employees and groups will be recognized at a special awards program in the spring of each year in each campus city.  Employees and groups will also be recognized through publicity in university publications and local newspapers.

Each employee selected will receive the designated award.  Team or work group cash awards will be divided based upon the number of members on the team.  Pins and plaques will be awarded to all individuals within teams receiving awards.

Nominations will be solicited from staff and faculty of the university through a mass mailing in late summer of each year.

The University President will appoint a campus selection committee to screen the initial nominations and make recommendations for a selection pool for the Texas Tech Quality Service Awards and the Chancellor's Award (s) of Excellence.  Final decisions for the Quality Service Awards will be made by the President.  The final decision for the Awards of Excellence will be made by the Chancellor.

Selection Process

Quality Service Awards Criteria

• Basic eligibility criteria:
• Continuously employed as benefits-eligible staff for two years as of September 1, 2009.
• Must have completed the appropriate SERVICEplus customer service training class as of September 1, 2009.
• Must have a current positive performance appraisal on file in Human Resources as of September 1, 2009.
• May be an individual or a team.  All team members must meet basic eligibility criteria for the team to be eligible for an award.  
• Nominee has not received the award in the previous year.
