Name & Social Security Number Change Information
A copy of your current social security card will be required to make changes to either your name or your social security number. Marriage licenses or other court documents are no longer accepted as proof of a name change. The only exception will be for international students who have not been issued a social security card. In that case, a copy of your visa is required. You should update your social security card prior to coming to change your name or SSN at Texas Tech.
At the time of application to Texas Tech University, the student's name and social security number are taken from the application exactly as written or typed. This student information is used by all University offices.
The name and social security number will remain the same unless one of the following occurs
