Learning Disabilities Policy

Overview and Philosophy

Techniques, by definition, reflect a way in which each student is guided to find the best strategies for learning.  Educators refer to this process as finding a personal learning style.  At the TECHniques Center, learning styles are only part of the puzzle.  The TECHniques Center supports students in maintaining their focus, accomplishing their educational goals, and making education accessible to those who learn differently. The only program of its kind in Texas, the TECHniques Center provides supplemental academic support services to meet the needs of, and to promote the retention of, undergraduate students with documented evidence of learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders.  Student participants are undergraduates majoring in degree programs which they choose and are expected to meet the same academic requirements as other students. Since their curricula are the same as other students, they can leave the university with the same pride in their degree as any other graduate.
