Advising Information

PreEngineering students are advised through University Advising. As a result, PreEngineering students have the opportunity to talk through their career choices and degree options as well as participate in Discovery! activities related to career and major exploration.

PreEngineering students may transfer to the Whitacre College of Engineering (WCOE) as a Foundational student once they earn at least a 3.0 GPA on at least 12 credit hours of coursework at Texas Tech. These 12 hours typically come from the WCOE foundational Curriculum:

  • ENGL 1301
  • ENGL 1302
  • MATH 1451
  • MATH 1452
  • CHEM 1307/1107 or substitute
  • PHYS 1408
  • ENGR 1315 or equivalent

All PreEngineering students must complete MATH 1451 prior to transfer to the Whitacre College of Engineering.

Feel free to contact us if you have questions about how your credits apply toward the foundational curriculum.
