Overview:

High School Students

High School Scholarship Program (HSSP). The HSSP provides 3- and 4-year scholarship offers to high school seniors and graduates who have no full-time college experience. Students who have participated in a joint high school/college credit program prior to high school graduation may still apply via the HSSP program.

J-100 AFJROTC Leadership Scholarship. The J-100 scholarships are a form of HSSP available exclusively to 100 Junior ROTC cadets selected by an AFJROTC convened selection board. The J-100 recognizes the character and leadership developed in AFJROTC cadets and provides opportunity to pursue a commission in the United States Air or Space Forces while earning their college degree. This is a four-year scholarship at select Minority Serving Institutions (MSI).  There are no specific degree requirements for this annual scholarship.  *Details provided through your AFJROTC Chain of Command

College Students/Current Cadets

The In-College Scholarship Program (ICSP). The ICSP provides 2- to 3-year scholarship offers to GMC cadets to help AFROTC meet officer production goals. Similar to the HSSP, cadets compete in the ICSP on a national basis. Cadets should be briefed on ICSP eligibility and activation requirements upon enrollment in AFROTC. ICSP scholarships are reserved for highly qualified cadets whose documented performance merit scholarship consideration.

Language Flagship Scholarships. Language Flagship Scholarships are foreign language scholarship opportunities available to eligible GMC cadets attending universities with an approved Language Flagship program. Language flagship scholarships have a 4-year maximum length. The capstone 5th year is paid for by the Defense Language and National Security Education Office (DLNSEO). To be eligible for a Language Flagship Scholarship, cadets must be accepted into and enrolled in an Language Flagship program, pursuing an approved foreign language at an approved university, and meet all scholarship eligibility and activation requirements

LTC Stephen W. Burres Jr. Memorial Scholarship

The LTC Stephen W. Burres Jr. Scholarship is awarded each year to a single ROTC cadet who has excelled in their academics, extracurricular activities and also embodies the values and philosophy that guided LTC Stephen W. Maj Donald E. Johnson Memorial Scholarship

The Major Donald Johnson Memorial Scholarship is to benefit Texas Tech Air Force ROTC students enrolled in the Professional Officer Course. It is awarded each year to a single ROTC cadet who has excelled in their academics, extracurricular activities and embodies the values and philosophy of an Air Force Officer.

Capt Sheri Cavin Memorial Scholarship

The Captain Sheri Cavin Memorial Scholarship is to be awarded to a deserving student in good standing who is a member of the Silver Wings Organization or Sabre Drill Team. The student must exemplify the Spirit of service demonstrated by Captain Sheri Cavin herself in her lifetime.

Cadet Spencer LaBrie Memorial Scholarship

Cadet Spencer LaBrie was an outstanding student and athlete excelling in both baseball and basketball. Spencer was a sophomore cadet and a member of the Arnold Air Society, an organization whose mission is to build strong officers for the United States Air Force. Spencer was a very determined, motivated and goal oriented young man who loved his family deeply and was a positive influence in Detachment 820. This scholarship is given to a top Arnold Air Society member. 

Texas Armed Services Scholarship

The purpose of the Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program is to encourage students to become members of the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, the Texas State Guard, the United States Coast Guard, or the United States Merchant Marine, or to become commissioned officers in any branch of the armed services of the United States. Each year the governor and the lieutenant governor may each appoint two students, and each state senator and each state representative may appoint one student to receive an initial conditional scholarship.

State-Hazlewood Act

The purpose of the Hazlewood Exemption (Hazlewood Act) is to provide an education benefit to honorably discharged or separated Texas veterans and to eligible dependent children and spouses of Texas veterans. Eligible veterans, their children and spouses may receive an exemption from the payment of all tuition, dues, fees, and other required charges, including fees for undergraduate, graduate, law, nursing, medical school for up to 150 credit hours maximum.

Order of the Daedalian Lubbock Chapter Scholarship

The Order of Daedalian Lubbock Flight Foundation supports students who want to learn more about aviation and who want to pursue a career as a military pilot. The Order's membership of commissioned, warrant and flight officer military pilots and WASPs, with its worldwide network of Daedalian Flights and its comprehensive awards program, supports the military services and other aerospace activities. The Awards and Scholarship Programs of the Order and Foundation encourage patriotism, integrity, and good character in our nation's youth; military careers as commissioned pilots; safety of flight, and excellence in the performance of military duties. Military Officers Association Lubbock Chapter Scholarship

The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Scholarship Fund was established in 1948 to provide educational assistance for children of military families. It is based on one of the Association's founding principles that "education is the cornerstone of a strong Democracy". The MOAA Lubbock Chapter awards a scholarship every year to a top Texas Tech Air Force ROTC cadet.

Ms. Robin J. Copeland Memorial Scholarship

Ms. Robin J. Copeland (1965 – 2011) had roots in West Texas and earned a distinguished career in international diplomacy, nonproliferation, and scientific engagement. Her work with the U.S. Department of Energy, Department of State, the Civilian Research Development Foundation, and liaisons with U.S. Embassies worldwide was carried out under often difficult and demanding conditions. Ms. Copeland's responsibilities required skills in political science, technical science, and engineering. She was fluent in seven languages. For application form please click here.

San Antonio Post Scholarship

The goal of this scholarship program is to select 6-10 qualified and promising undergraduate ROTC students to receive SAME-SA Post $1,000 to $5,000 scholarships. The scholarship award is a one-time cash payment. For application click here.

AFCEA ROTC Scholarship

The AFCEA ROTC Scholarship is awarded to an ROTC student based on his performance and accomplishments, demonstrated leadership and his/her potential to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces as a commissioned officer. The Selection Committee welcomes any other relevant information in support of this application such as special needs for financial assistance.

Armed Forces Insurance (AFI) Scholarship

This scholarship recognizes four outstanding ROTC cadets nationally who have excelled in academic and military disciplines.  Each cadet must: be a rising AS 400 cadet; have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, demonstrate active leadership in important cadet corps or university positions and projects, demonstrate qualities of dependability, good character, patriotism, and military discipline, and have a need for financial assistance. This award is donated by Armed Forces Insurance and consists of four $1,000 scholarships presented annually.

United Services Automobile Association (USAA) Scholarship

This scholarship recognizes outstanding AS 200 and 300 cadets.  Each cadet must rank in the upper 10 percent of their AS class and demonstrate achievement in leadership, organizational ability, teamwork, and academics.  They must also have a balance of academic achievement in complex academic studies versus simply a high GPA.  These awards consist of brass clocks and four $1,200 scholarships awarded to region designees and one $2,000 scholarship for the overall national winner.

The Lieutenant Jay Smith Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship recognizes outstanding AS 300 cadets; Each cadet nominated must: be of good moral character, have varied interests as demonstrated in academic and student activities, have completed FT, and entered the POC; This award consists of the Lieutenant Jay Smith Memorial Scholarship for $2,000 for the overall national winner.

DET 820 Skyraider Scholarship

Increase retention by providing financial assistance for cadets that meet a combination of merit and need-based criteria.  These are funds provided from the Texas Tech President's Office to Det 820 Skyraiders and are designated to help increase retention. Cadre develops criteria as a team and selects recipients each year.
