Sara Trojan, an experienced researcher in cow/calf nutrition and management, has been named a visiting assistant professor in Texas Tech University’s Department of Animal and Food Sciences. Raised in Sheridan, Wy., Trojan chose her career path from her love of growing up and working on her family’s commercial cow/calf ranch. She said she tries to use her background to facilitate her ability to bring practical and real-world scenarios to the classroom. “I have a strong passion for the beef cattle industry and a desire to work to enhance both the environmental and economic sustainability of the industry,” Trojan said. “In the short time that I have been at Texas Tech, I have enjoyed the interactions and collaborative relationships that I have been able to develop with faculty across all departments of CASNR and foresee a very bright future in building on ideas for advancing both teaching and research in the college. “ Before relocating to Lubbock, Trojan was a faculty member at South Dakota State University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in animal science from Oklahoma State University and her master’s degree from Kansas State University. Her doctorate in animal nutrition is from Oklahoma State.
