Why did you decide to come to Texas Tech University?

"I have been a lifelong Red Raider and going to Texas Tech was never a question. The hard part for me was picking a major. I got involved with the FFA Agriscience fair in high school and worked with Dr. Mindy Brashears on my projects. After a few years, she was able convince me to major in Food Science."

What are your future career goals?

"After graduating I plan on attending law school and hope to work in international trade law."

What is your advice to potential students interested in this field of study?

"Don't be afraid to try it. I was very hesitant to major in food science, and Dr. Brashears had to work very hard to get me to try it. It is a tough major, but it is great. You will learn so much and your professors will give you everything you need to succeed. Food Science is a very rewarding major."

What was your favorite part of Texas Tech?

"My favorite part of Texas Tech is the opportunities you couldn't get anywhere else. I have interned for congress, conducted research in Mexico, and traveled across the country for different conferences. This was all through Texas Tech, and I wouldn't have had those opportunities anywhere else. The faculty and staff are always providing students with opportunities to expand their horizons in very unique ways. Tech provides a great education experience that isn't limited to the classroom."
