Texas Tech University

Why did you decide to come to Texas Tech University?
Texas Tech's unmatched College of Agricultural Science & Natural Resources was one that was always at the top of my list when I was looking at possible universities. Then, after touring the campus and visiting with people at Texas Tech, I was officially sold on being a Red Raider. I can say with great confidence that becoming part of the Texas Tech family was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

What are your future career goals?
After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, I would like to pursue a Master's Degree in Agriculture Education and later work as a county extension agent or as a high school ag teacher. I chose these two fields because of the impact that my own county agents and ag teachers had on me as a young 4-H and FFA member. I would like to give back to the two organizations that did so much for me.

What is your advice to potential students interested in this field of study?
The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) and the Department of Animal Science at Texas Tech are some of the best communities with which to become involved. The advisors and professors are constantly willing to lend a helping hand, and they are always looking out for the best interest of the students. They want the best for you, so I would definitely advise students to take advantage of all the opportunities that college and department have to offer.

What is your favorite part of Texas Tech?
Texas Tech is a family. No matter how large or small your class is, there is always someone in there that you know. It's hard to walk from class to class without seeing half a dozen friends. Everyone is always looking out for each other and it's easy to always make a friend wherever you are on campus. The family-style, small town atmosphere is something that you can't find everywhere, but it is alive and well here in the land of scarlet and black!
