Letter from the Dean

Dr. John Burns

I know you will enjoy this latest issue of the nationally recognized college publication of The Agriculturist. Once again we arecalling your attention to several of the outstanding students, faculty and alumni that have helped in making CASNR a great college.

Our student judging teams continue to set national records.  In fact, the latest championships won by students in animal science and agronomy now bring the record number of national championships to 82!  One such accomplishment is highlighted in this issue.  On the alumni side, I think you will enjoy reading about the tremendous support given our college by “Making Everyday Matter,” and I think you will find it interesting that one of our alumni invented TCBY ice cream, Lunchables and
Slim Jims.

In this issue we also wish to call your attention to several of our outstanding faculty who have made numerous contributions to the teaching, research and service missions of our college.  And last but not least, I call your attention to the successes of two students who have persevered under less than ideal circumstances.

The profiles and other articles contained in this issue offer a very small glimpse of what makes CASNR a wonderful and dynamic educational endeavor.

Sincerely,

John Burns
