How to Apply
1. A formal application (preferably at least three months prior to date of intended enrollment).

A $50.00 non-refundable application fee is required of all U.S. citizens and permanent residents seeking admission to the Graduate School for the first time. Once this fee is paid, it is not required when reapplying. Non-U.S. students must pay a $60.00 non-refundable application processing fee. For International Students Only: Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores. Minimum score required is 550 on the paper and pencil test or 213 on the computer-based test. Information about the TOEFL exam can be obtained from the Educational Testing Service, PO Box 6000, Princeton, NJ 08541-6000, (609) 771-7670, http://www.ets.org/toefl/.
2. Obtain an application packet from the department

3. Application Review
Your admission into a graduate program will not be considered until your application packets are complete to both the Texas Tech University Graduate School and the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications. The Graduate School will forward an admission decision sheet to the department once you have met their requirements. These requirements include a completed formal application, payment of application fee, official transcripts, official GRE score report (and TOEFL score report for international students). Once the department receives the admission decision sheet from the Graduate School, we must have your completed departmental application packet before we will consider your packet for review. The departmental packet includes a completed Departmental Application for Graduate Program Admission, letter of interest, resume, transcripts, additional supporting material, and three letters of recommendation (See Admission Requirements below). In the interim, you may contact the department with any questions that you may have.

A letter of interest (A 300-500 word statement of your goals for pursuing the graduate degree – personal, career, and professional goals; explanation of why the degree is sought; how the degree will help achieve goals outlined; areas of interest in teaching, research, and outreach; and explain experience and background in agriculture, agricultural education, agricultural communication, and/or extension education.)

Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended and verification of completion of bachelor’s degree

A grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work and any graduate courses taken.

Acceptable scores on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) taken with in the past five years.

Recommendations from at least three individuals who are able to assess your academic skills and potential as a graduate student. These letters of recommendation should be sent directly to the department’s graduate coordinator.
