Doctoral Student, Agricultural Education
Ms. Lemons returned to the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications in 2010 as a doctoral student. She rejoins the Department as a Research and Teaching Fellow under Dr. Todd Brashears.
Prior to her return to Texas Tech, Laura taught high school agriculture at Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas for 3 years, breathing new life into a previously stagnant program. Student accomplishments during Ms. Lemons’ tenure at Cooper include State Semi-Finalist Ag Issues Forum Team, State Qualifying Dairy Foods Team and Area Runner-Up Entomology Team, among other individual and team awards.
Laura earned a M.S. in Agricultural Education from Texas Tech in 2007, where she was named the Outstanding Graduate Student. She earned a B.S. in Agriculture with teacher certification from West Texas A&M University in 2006. She is currently certified in Vocational Agriculture Production, Speech, as well as Work Based Learning. Laura is also a certified Hunter Education Instructor, OSHA trainer as well as NCCER instructor.
A native of Raton, New Mexico, Laura enjoys spending time outdoors running, hiking, hunting or mountain biking. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, her nephew Rody Owen, and her dog, Emmy.
