Master of Agriculture @ a Distance
The Master of Agriculture (M.Ag.) degree program at a distance is designed to prepare students and professionals as leaders, managers, and executives in the agricultural sciences and natural resources areas. The program is designed specifically to meet the needs of today’s working professional. This non-thesis degree program requires a minimum of 36 semester hours of graduate coursework.
Because the program is multidisciplinary, students are able to design a program that will meet their unique career objectives. Students select an area of emphasis (a minimum of 18 semester credit hours) in either Agricultural Education, Agricultural Education with a Principal Professional Certification Preparation, Agronomy, Horticulture, or Resource Management.

- For most areas of emphasis offered by the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, coursework can be completed online. Coursework for in the Principal Professional Certification Preparation program is offered via interactive television or face-to-face at TTU at Fredericksburg, TTU at Highland Lakes, TTU Center at Junction, and the Lubbock campus with online instruction integrated in the most courses. Application Process
- Complete and submit the online application form at www.applytexas.org).
- Interview with the Associate Dean and/or faculty in the College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources. This interview can either be in person or over the phone. Please contact Dr. Norman Hopper to set up an interview.
- All Master of Ag applicants must take the GRE. If you are applying for the Agricultural Education with Principal Professional Certification Preparation emphasis, you must also submit an application form along with three reference forms, a personal statement, and a resume to the Associate Dean of Graduate Education and Research at the College of Education (Box 41071, Lubbock, TX 79409-1071). Upon acceptance to the Graduate School, the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, and the College of Education (applicable only to students wishing to complete the Principal Certification Preparation Program), students will work with a Graduate Advisory Committee composed of three members (the committee chair must be from the department of the student’s declared area of emphasis). Students pursuing the Agricultural Education with Principal Professional Certification Preparation Program emphasis will be jointly advised by faculty in both the College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources and the College of Education; however, students will be matriculated in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
