L.M. Hargrave – T.L. Leach Agricultural Education Endowed Scholarship

 

The L. M. Hargrave – T. L. Leach Scholarship Fund was established by friends of L. M. Hargrave and T. L. Leach in 1977. The scholarship is awarded to students of all classification majoring in Agricultural Education with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

L.M. Hargrave and T.L. Leach were both professors in the Department of Agricultural Education and influential forces in agricultural education and the Texas 4-H Organization. Over 300 of their students went on to become vocational agriculture teachers in Texas. Hargrave served as co-author for a number of workbooks and teaching manuals for vocational agriculture teachers and on committees for several state Future Farmers of America chapters. He also served as the State Fair of Texas Superintendent of the market barrow show.

T. L. Leach was very active in serving Texas Tech University and was influential in many areas, including: Athletic Council, the Department of Agricultural Education, the formation of the Agri-Business degree program, and the Red Raider Club. He received his degree from Texas Tech University, known then as Texas Technological College, in 1934 in Animal Husbandry.
