Dr. Bill G. and Shirley Jackson Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Dr. Bill G. and Shirley Jackson Memorial Scholarship Endowment was originally established in 2000 by Mrs. Shirley Jackson in memory of her husband. The name was changed by the Jackson Family to include her name after her passing in 2010.  The endowment provides scholarships to students participating on judging teams within the Department of Animal and Food Sciences.

Dr. Bill G. Jackson graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in 1953 and a Master of Science in 1959, both in Animal Production. Shirley Jackson received a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1953 from Texas Tech University, where she was president of her dormitory (Knapp Hall) and sorority Zeta Tau Alpha. She was also a member of one of the first women"s quartets at Texas Tech the Harmonettes as well as the Texas Tech University chorus and the Texas Tech Wesley Players. She was one of the first women to receive an M.S. degree from Texas A&M University in 1964.

Bill and Shirley married in November of 1952. They had six children, Stephen Greer Jackson, Sue Elise Jackson, Scot Andrew Jackson, Amy Elizabeth Jackson, Dr. Samuel Paul Jackson (1986 BS, Animal Production, and 1993 PHD, Animal Science), and Jennifer Emily Jackson Crumley (1990 BS, Agricultural Education). They also had seven grandchildren, Ashley, Drew, Logan, Melanie, Jay, Joshua, and Hailey.
