Don Morrison Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Don Morrison Memorial Scholarship Endowment was established by Frances Morrison in 2007. This scholarship is awarded to students who are participating on the Texas Tech University Rodeo Team. This scholarship is awarded to rodeo team members who demonstrate a high level of all-around participation, good character, and academic dedication.

Don Morrison graduated from Texas Tech University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Production. He returned to the Morrison family ranch north of Pampa, TX, where he grew up. Don and Frances had four sons-David, James, Frank, and Donald, Jr. David passed away at a young age from acute leukemia. James worked on the family ranch and helped run the Morrison Cattle Company. Frank attended Texas Tech University and received a degree in Agricultural Economics in 1980. He previously worked for Llano Estacado Energy and now is employed by The Coronado Project. Donald, Jr. also attended Texas Tech University and received a degree in Animal Business in 1978. Upon graduation, he returned to help run Morrison Cattle Company. When Don passed, Frances sold her portion of the ranch and Don and James continue to run their portion. Frances was a teacher previous to marrying Don in Pampa, TX and then became too busy with the family ranch to continue.  On her mother and father's land in Pampa, gas wells were discovered, and she inherited a large amount upon their passing. With this inheritance, she decided to establish various endowments at Texas Tech University in honor of her late husband and her two sons who are alumni. She also gave to the First United Methodist Church in Pampa and the Opportunity Plan in Canyon, TX.
