Bill Quattlebaum Endowed Scholarship

The Bill Quattlebaum Scholarship Endowment was established in 2013 by colleagues, friends and family of Mr. Quattlebaum in his memory. Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources.

Bill P. Quattlebaum graduated from Texas Tech University in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education. He was a member of Alpha Zeta.

Bill was born in Caps, Texas. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1945. He was a proud Texas Tech graduate. Bill was an astute businessman who began his cotton loving career at Paymaster Oil Mill in Aiken, Texas where he shoveled concrete. Through hard work and staunch determination, he advanced to General Manager. He continued to work in the cotton industry until he officially retired, for the third time, in 2011.

Bill loved Tech football, a good round of golf, his country, his church, his friends, and his family. He and his wife of 60 years, Mary Evelyn Manning Quattlebaum, had one son, the late Gregg Quattlebaum, and two daughters, Nancy Q. McGuire and Melinda Quattlebaum, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nancy graduated in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in Advertising Art and Design, and Melinda graduated in 1988 with a BSE in Elementary Education, both from Texas Tech.

Billy peacefully passed away at his home in Floydada, Texas, at age 84 Thursday, May 24, 2012.
