Delbert and Patricia Hess Scholarship Endowment
The Delbert and Patricia Hess Scholarship Endowment was established by Delbert Hess and Patricia Hess in 2006. The scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students majoring in the Department of Plant and Soil Science. Dr. Delbert C. Hess received a Bachelor of Science in Soil Science from Texas Tech University in 1958. His wife, Patricia, received a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics Education from Texas Tech University in 1958. They established the Delbert and Patricia Hess Scholarship Endowment.
Delbert received the Distinguished Alumnus in 1993 and Outstanding Agriculturalist in 2003, from the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources. He is a former member of the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources Advisory Board. Delbert and Patricia are current members of the Matador Society. While students at Texas Tech University, Delbert, participated in Alpha Tau Omega, Alpha Zeta, Air Force ROTC, Agronomy Club, and Phi Kappa Phi, and Patricia participated in American Home Economics Association, Gamma Phi Beta, and Phi Mu.
They have three grown children: Kenneth, who received a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy from Texas Tech University in 1986; Valinda Green, who received a Bachelor of Science in Human Development & Family Studies from Texas Tech University in 1989; and Kirk, who received a Bachelor of Science in Restaurant, Hotel, and Institutional Management from Texas Tech University in 1991. Delbert currently serves as a Consultant to Bayer CropScience and is a Retired Director of International Maize-Mexico City.
Delbert and Patricia reside in Fairhope, AL.
