Dr. Cary Green

Dr. Cary Green joined the faculty at Texas Tech University in January of 1995. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Soil Chemistry in the Department of Plant and Soil Science. Dr. Green also serves as Director, CASNR Ag Recruiting and Career (ARC) Center and has responsibilities for recruiting, new student orientation, retention, and placement. Prior to coming to Texas Tech University, he served as a post-doctoral research associate in the Agronomy Department at Iowa State University.

Dr. Green received his baccalaureate (1987) in Crop and Soil Science from Purdue University. Subsequently, he received his master's (1989) in Soil Microbiology and Biochemistry and was awarded a Ph.D. (1993) from Iowa State University with a major in Soil Science. Additionally, Dr. Green holds a Professional Geologist license and maintains accreditation as a Certified Professional Soil Scientist and Certified Crop Advisor.

During his tenure at Texas Tech University, he has served on many departmental, college, and university committees in addition to several graduate student committees – both as a member and major professor. In addition, he has served his professional societies (American Society of Agronomy and Soil Science Society of America) as Chair of the National Visual Presentation Contest and Texas Certified Crop Advisor Program.

Aside from his family, his greatest interest is in the students at Texas Tech University. Dr. Green says, "My joy is to inspire students to get involved in the science of agriculture and natural resources at the collegiate level and beyond."
