Texas Tech’s Masked Rider ranks among AP’s coolest college mascots

image image The Associated Press has named Texas Tech’s Masked Rider as the ninth best mascot in college football. Christi Chadwell, a sophomore agriculture communications major from Garland, is in the saddle this year as the 49th student to serve as the Masked Rider.  more »

 

For the Record; AEC shines at Agricultural Media Summit in Minnesota

image image A Corpus Christi senior led a winning group of Texas Tech University agricultural communicators taking top honors in two divisions and receiving an award of excellence today (July 27) at the 12th Annual Agricultural Media Summit in St. Paul, Minn. The event is considered among the largest gatherings of crop and livestock media professionals in the United States, officials said.  more »

 

AEC’s Dodd tapped for prestigious National FFA Africa Outreach Program

image image The National FFA Organization has selected a Texas Tech graduate student to participate in its inaugural FFA Global Outreach: Africa program. Described by program officials as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, it features an all-expense-paid trip to Zambia, Africa, to help local farmers fight area hunger and poverty through sustainable agriculture and conservation.  more »

 

Meat Science Academic Quiz Bowl Team repeats as National Champs

Texas Tech University’s Meat Science Academic Quiz Bowl Team won back-to-back national championships, taking the top spot once again June 23 at the 63rd Annual Reciprocal Meat Conference in Lubbock. The Red Raider team added to national titles won at the competition in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009.  more »

image image For more than seven years, the Texas Tech Equestrian Center has been the heart of the region’s horse world here on the High Plains. The $3.2 million facility is located on the southwestern edge of Lubbock, about nine miles from the main campus.
