Henk den Bakker joins Texas Tech’s Department of Animal and Food Sciences

Henk (Hendrik) den Bakker, an expert in population modeling and biostatistics, has been named an assistant professor in Texas Tech University’s Department of Animal and Food Sciences, according to officials within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. He officially stepped into his new teaching and research post on Nov. 1.  more »

The Texas Tech University men’s and women’s rodeo teams recently wrapped up competition for the fall with a strong showing at its home event, the 65th Annual Texas Tech Rodeo. Kynzie Rae McNeill qualified for the short round in barrel racing and took third at the Texas Tech event, while Macie Friess placed third in breakaway roping.  more »

Gretchen Lochte’s passion for agriculture and academic organizations began long before her collegiate career. As the daughter of a farmer, Lochte joined 4-H at a young age and has continued in organizational work throughout college. Now, as the president of Texas Tech’s Ag Council, she has plans to create events that would help facilitate relationships between students and faculty.  more »

Texas Tech’s Department of Animal and Food Sciences highlighted its outstanding alumni and special contributors on Friday (Oct. 17) at a special 350-person event held in the department’s livestock arena. Eight award winners were honored as well as members of the 1984, 1994 and 2004 Meat Judging Teams and the 2009 Wool Judging Team.  more »
