Beef industry sharply reduces E. coli; More progress needed with salmonella

Food safety experts report that the nation’s beef industry has done a remarkable job of dealing with carcass contamination involving E. coli. Incidences of E. coli O157 positives in ground beef sampling have dropped by more than 90 percent in the last decade, but the same decline hasn’t been seen in the incidence of Salmonella in ground beef.  more »

Texas Tech’s Ranch Horse Team rode to its fourth national title last month (Apr. 19-20) at the American Stock Horse Association National Collegiate Championship Show in Abilene. Women’s rodeo team looks to defend their 2012 national championship

By turning in a strong showing at the Tarleton State University Stampede Rodeo last month Stephenville, the Texas Tech University women’s rodeo team qualified to compete in the College National Finals Rodeo in June in Casper, Wyo. The women’s team made school history last summer, winning its first national championship at the 64th annual College National Finals Rodeo.  more »
