Northern bobwhite covey call count draws CASNR students to area ranches

Away from the day-to-day routine of student life, Rowdy White rolls down the highway in the wee hours of the morning, traveling to one of many Quail-Tech Alliance ranches in search of quail calls. In the dark silence, just as the sun tips the horizon, the Texas Tech University senior listens for the distinctive koi-lee sound of a bobwhite calling in the distance.  more »

Student Retention; Advising Academy completes second round of training

Twelve members of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources were honored today (Oct. 27) as the second class of the CASNR Advising Academy. Representing five of the college’s departments and the CASNR Dean’s Office, the participants focused on a series of workshops that ultimately aim to provide more consistency between programs, give faculty and staff more confidence when advising students, and create a more efficient advising process.  more »

GALLERY: Foundation takes shape on new Bayer Plant Science Building tower

Intricate layers of rebar and reinforced forms go into place this month just outside Texas Tech’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Dean’s Office on the northwest corner of the Goddard building. The two-story tower, scheduled for completion by the end of February, completes the exterior enhancement of CASNR’s new Bayer Plant Science Building and visually ties the new and old buildings together. The tower is being built by Vaughn Construction.  more »

Trend Line; CASNR is part of the largest enrollment class in Texas Tech history

Texas Tech University officials reported today (Sept. 29) another enrollment record with 36,551 students for the fall semester. Enrollment has climbed each year since 2009, on track to reach the goal of 40,000 students by 2020 as set out in the university’s strategic plan.  more »
