Members of CASNR’s Dr. Bill Bennett Student Success Center hosted their annual Ag Fest today (Aug. 27) at the Department of Animal and Food Sciences’ Livestock Arena here on campus. As temperatures hovered in the mid-nineties outside the sprawling building; inside, students, faculty and staff roamed the facility in a late afternoon filled with fun and information.  more »

Prior to this year’s Texas Tech College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources’ Advisory Board Meeting, a ‘Chuck Wagon Breakfast’ was held on Friday (Aug. 21) at the Bayer Museum of Agriculture in Lubbock. Among the luminaries on hand for the early morning event were Robert Duncan, Chancellor of the Texas Tech University System; Lawrence Schovanec, Texas Tech Provost and Senior Vice President; and Michael Galyean, dean of Texas Tech’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.  more »

Graduate School honors student theses, dissertations from CASNR programs

Texas Tech University’s Graduate School has announced the recipients of this year’s awards, which recognize the quality of work shown in graduate students’ theses and dissertations. This year those honored included topics in biological and life sciences. Students were nominated by their discipline’s faculty members for the cash award donated by the Helen Jones Foundation.  more »

Llano River Field Station receives education and public service award

The Llano River Field Station, the strategic arm of the Texas Tech University Center at Junction, has been presented this year’s ‘Education and Public Service Award’ by the Universities Council on Water Resources. Researchers at the field station, including several from the Tech’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, collaborate on studying and solving the issues of the region and beyond, including watershed, range science and environmental education and public engagement.  more »

The greening of the West Library Mall and the area surrounding Tech’s iconic Dairy Barn are part of a $2.5 million campus beautification project that included the university’s Broadway Avenue entrance and Memorial Circle.  more »
