Arbor Day: CASNR student groups contribute to campus beautification

Texas Tech’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources marked its annual celebration of sustainability and community this week, with its annual Arbor Day event Friday (Apr. 29). The event, which featured seven CASNR organizations, is a partnership among Student Union & Activities, Hospitality Services, Center for Campus Life, Tech Activities Board, Grounds Maintenance and the Texas Tech Ethics Center.  more »

Texas State marker highlights long history of Texas Tech’s iconic Dairy Barn

Lubbock County’s Historical Commission and the Student Government Association of Texas Tech unveiled a new Texas State Historical Marker in ceremonies on Thursday (April 28) honoring Tech’s Dairy Barn, one of the university’s original structures. Built in an L-shaped configuration, the agricultural complex includes a free-standing grain silo to the west of the main wing.  more »

Advisory Board member recognized for outstanding migratory bird stewardship

A member of Texas Tech University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Advisory Board has received his fourth nomination for the Presidential Migratory Bird Stewardship Award since its foundation six years ago. James Ray, a noted wildlife biologist and graduate of Tech’s Department of Natural Resources Management (1987), has been tracking, documenting and protecting wildlife at the Pantex Plant northeast of Amarillo for more than 15 years.  more »
