Texas Tech taps Iceland fisheries expert for Cooperative Fish & Wildlife post

image  A research scientist from the University of Iceland’s Institute of Biology has joined the Texas Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Unit at Texas Tech, university officials announced today (Aug. 13). The unit is a partnership between Texas Tech, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, U.S. Geological Survey, Wildlife Management Institute and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  more »


Texas Tech officials announce strategic hiring of noted animal science researcher

image image As Texas Tech continues its journey toward Tier One status, administration officials announced this week strategic hirings of seven respected researchers who will help grow the university’s research capabilities. Meat, muscle biologist joins Animal and Food Sciences faculty

image image Jessica Starkey has been named an assistant professor of meat and muscle biology in Texas Tech University’s Department of Animal and Food Sciences, according to officials with the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. She began her teaching and research duties on Jan. 1.  more »


New Gordon W. Davis Regent’s Chair selected in AFS

image image Brad Johnson has been named the new Texas Tech University’s Gordon W. Davis Regent’s Chair in Meat Science and Muscle Biology and a professor in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources’ Department of Animal and Food Sciences. Johnson stepped into his new position from Kansas State University on June 1.  more »
