In 1964 a concerned high school agriculture teacher came to Lewis Eggenberger, a former professor in the Agricultural Education and Communications Department, with a suggestion. He wanted to find a way for his students to showcase their talents in agricultural mechanics outside of the classroom.

Texas Tech’s University Therapeutic Riding Center has been awarded premier accreditation status by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association, a distinction that puts it among top-tier programs in the nation.

The scars from March’s devastating wildfires are healing now as rain-swept green slowly fills in once-charred grasslands. The fires, which scorched thousands of acres from Canadian to Childress, took their toll on cattle, horses and humans alike. (more…)
