The U.S. Agriculture Department defines it as “any place from which $1,000 or more of agricultural products were produced and sold, or normally would have been sold, during the year.” “Very large farms” are defined as having gross sales of more than $500,000. Texas Tech’s Ranch Horse Team took champion and reserve champion honors last weekend in the Stock Horse of Texas Association Show’s Collegiate Division at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene. “I’m extremely proud of how everyone did,” said Tech Ranch Horse Team Coach Cooper Cogdell. “They’ve been working hard to prep for this first show and their hard work paid off.” (more…)

Texas Tech University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources honored seven distinguished alumni on Monday (Feb. 18) at the university’s McKenzie Merket Alumni Center. The Distinguished & Young Alumni Awards honored alumni who’ve made significant contributions to society, and whose accomplishments and careers have brought distinction to the college and to the professions associated with agriculture and natural resources. Texas Tech’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources will host a Spring Career Expo from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 27) at the university’s Student Union Ballroom. Nearly a year ahead of schedule, Texas Tech’s “Vision & Tradition: The Campaign for Texas Tech” has surpassed its $1 billion goal with the support of more than 120,000 donors, making the effort the most successful capital campaign in the history of the Texas Tech University System, officials claim today (Feb. 8). Texas Tech’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources celebrates a milestone this month, the 90th anniversary of the passage of Texas Senate Bill No. 103, Texas Technological College’s charter. The bill – passed Feb. 10, 1923 – was signed by the governor to establish a Texas state college in West Texas. (more…)
