AEC’s Bogle honored by International Broadcasters IdeaBank in Ottawa
A senior from Texas Tech’s Department of Agricultural Education and Communications has been selected to receive a prestigious 2012 International Broadcasters IdeaBank Scholarship. Lauren Bogle of Dexter, NM, was notified of the $7,500 scholarship in May at the group’s annual international meeting in Ottawa, Canada.
“Lauren has worked hard to broaden her experiences in broadcast media,” said Courtney Meyers, an agricultural communications assistant professor at Tech. “It’s exciting to teach students who already have such a passion for the industry, and I’m excited to follow Lauren’s bright future.”
The scholarship award is sponsored by the International Broadcasters IdeaBank, an organization of commercial radio broadcasting owners and managers, and Nashville-based SESAC, a music licensing company founded in 1930.
Program officials said the IdeaBank scholarship was available to applicants enrolled in a university with at least sophomore status, preferably with experience in the broadcast industry. Three of the final five finalists for the award were from Texas Tech.
In addition to her agricultural communications coursework, Meyers noted that Bogle is completing a minor in mass communications. Bogle works part-time as the producer of KTTU-FM’s “The Bottom Line,” a Lubbock sports-talk radio program. She’s scheduled to graduate in December.
