Four outstanding students from Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources are among the Texas FFA officers that have been selected to represent the organization's 10 areas across the Lone Star state.
Texas FFA announced the election of its new leadership team at its annual convention in Lubbock. Among the group from Texas Tech are:
- Sheldon Franks, a freshman pre-vet major from Follett; State Vice President, Area I Follett Chapter
- Krysti Kelley, a freshman interdisciplinary agriculture major from Mission; State Vice President, Area X Sharyland Chapter
- Kelli Neuman, a freshman agriculture communications major from Winnie; State Vice President, Area IX East Chambers Chapter
- Abby Prause, a freshman agriculture communications major from Bosqueville; State Vice President, Area VIII Bosqueville Chapter
FFA elects officers to travel the state and nation, making presentations advocating agriculture and education to FFA chapters and interested groups. The Texas FFA is the nation's largest state FFA association with a membership of some 80,000 active FFA members in Texas and about 1,000 local FFA chapters.
According to a statement from the organization, Texas FFA programs teach skills in leadership, career development and personal growth. FFA gives students the opportunity to practically apply classroom knowledge to real-world experiences through local, state and national competitions.
