AEC standout students are among first Ranch House Designs Scholars
Four students from Texas Tech University's Department of Agricultural Education and Communications have been chosen to participate in the inaugural class of 'Ranch House Designs Scholars,' university officials announced on Wednesday (Oct. 3). In all, 27 students were selected from a pool of more than 100 students from 35 different universities.
Tapped from Tech are Chelsey Ahrens, a doctoral candidate in agricultural communications from Lamar, Ark.; Kelsey Jones, a junior agricultural communications major from Garden City; Keegan Langford, a junior agricultural communications major from Farwell; and Stefanie Neuhaus, a junior agricultural communications major from Dora, N.M.
The selected students will begin a one-year mentorship program with an industry mentor to help build professional skills in livestock advertising and web design, livestock marketing, photography, video, journalism and social media. Wharton-based Ranch House Designs is a graphic design and web design agency.
Program officials note that the students will participate in opportunities at various events across the country, including the American Royal, North American International Livestock Exposition, National Western Stock Show, and the Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston Livestock Shows.
Ahrens was one of only two graduate students selected for the mentorship program. "I'm very excited and honored to have been selected as a Ranch House Design Scholar," Ahrens said. "Being able to receive insight, advice and knowledge from members of one of the largest livestock marketing firms in the country through this mentorship program will be an invaluable opportunity for me to use in my future career endeavors."
