LA Alum Christopher Hoffman Named to National CLARB Leadership Team
A graduate of Texas Tech University's Department of Landscape Architecture has been elected Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards, officials of the Reston, Va.-based organization reported today (Oct. 12).
Christopher Hoffman, who received his landscape architecture bachelor's degree in 1988, is currently licensed in Mississippi and has worked on a number of projects, including the Clinton Natchez Trace Visitor Center; Clinton Public School District Elementary School; Siberian tiger exhibit at the Jackson Zoo; and numerous projects on the Baptist Health System Campus. He's also a Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Board Certified landscape architect.
Hoffman, owner of his own 16-year-old, Clinton, Miss.-based design firm, previously served on the group's board as the Region III Director (2009-2011) and for two years, was on the organization's communications committee (2007-2009) which was responsible for helping to redefine the association's communications strategy including a new website and database that launched in 2009.
In the past, Hoffman has served on the Mississippi Landscape Architectural Advisory Committee (1998-2011) after being appointed by Governors Kirk Fordice and Ronnie Musgrove. He's an active member of the Mississippi chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects and was chapter president (1993-1994).
Program officials note that since 1970, the CLARB group has been dedicated to ensuring that all individuals who affect the natural and built environment through the practice of landscape architecture are sufficiently qualified. Members include the licensure boards that regulate the landscape architecture profession in the United States; Puerto Rico; and Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Ontario.
