Texas Tech Teaching Academy welcomes Brooks as new member from CASNR
A top-flight faculty member from Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources has been inducted into the university's elite Teaching Academy. The academy was established to recognize excellence in teaching and to promote the university's teaching mission.
The newest member from CASNR is Chance Brooks, an associate professor within the Department of Animal and Food Sciences. Brooks said being inducted is humbling, and he has an increased appreciation for well-rounded faculty members.
"Teaching, service and research are integrally related," he said. University officials noted that inductees are nominated by a member of the Teaching Academy and then seconded by another, in addition to being reviewed and selected by the Teaching Academy membership committee.

Among the objectives of the group are advocating for the importance of teaching, and creating an appropriate reward structure for teaching throughout the university, as well as serving as role models, fostering research on college-level teaching and learning practices, and advising the university and its institutions on teaching policies and practices.
In order to be considered for membership tenured or tenure-track professors with three years of service at Texas Tech must be nominated by a current academy member, show evidence of superlative teaching, and express an interest in promoting teaching improvement across the curriculum.
