Landscape Architecture spotlighted in WreckShop, First Friday Art Trail events
Texas Tech University's Department of Landscape Architecture is hosting two coordinated events later this week on the main university campus. Among the highlights are the department's first annual WreckShop, an event organized for students and alumni to interact in an informal workshop environment. Separately, Tech's historic Agricultural Pavilion will be a featured stop on Lubbock's 'First Friday Art Trail' event.
Friday (Feb. 7) and Saturday (Feb. 8) will be an active period for the department, said DeMera Ollinger, president ofTech's Student American Society of Landscape Architects organization. "We're anticipating that as many as six professional firms and nearly a dozen alumni will participate," she said.

Displays will include student work from projects in New Mexico and the Dominican Republic, as well as models, conceptual design work, and other landscape architecture projects, said Pat Westbrook, an assistant professor in the department. Students will also display results of an intensive design charrette conducted earlier in the day with alumni as part of the "WreckShop."
Separately, Westbrook said local landscape architecture alum Tim Oliver has offered his color sketch of the pavilion for a fundraiser to support the speakership endowment. Limited-edition, signed-and-numbered canvas prints will also be available, she said. Students and faculty will offer prints of their drawings and photos for sale as well, with proceeds going to Tech's Student American Society of Landscape Architects chapter.
