Name: Lauren Hamilton; Major: Agriculture and Applied Economics; Classification: Senior; Organization: Ambassadors for Agriculture; Hometown: Shepherd; Month: October 2014
Lauren Hamilton, a senior agriculture and applied economics major within Texas Tech's Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics was selected as the 'Aggie of the Month' during the October student Agricultural Council meeting. The Shepherd native represents Ambassadors for Agriculture.
Hamilton fell in love with the Texas Tech campus as a high school senior. "Everyone that I met was so welcoming and friendly to me and it really felt like home," Hamilton said. "Tech also had degree plans for undergrad and grad school that I was really interested in."
Hamilton said that her favorite part about being part of Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources is the friendliness of the students and faculty. "Being a part of CASNR is like having a huge extended family. I like the fact that my professors are easy to talk to and that they genuinely want to see all of their students succeed," she said. Hamilton plans to earn her master's degree in agriculture and applied economics and work in agriculture policy.
Hamilton is honored to have been named "Aggie of the Month." "I really looked up to some of the students that received this in the past. They were so dedicated to CASNR and strived to become future leaders in agriculture so being placed in the same category as those students is an honor and really inspiring for me," she said.
