Red Steagall Endowed Scholarship

The Red Steagall Endowed Scholarship was established within the Texas Tech Alumni Association. Created by friends of Steagall, funds generated from the endowment will provide scholarships to undergraduate students majoring in CASNR."My education and musical career both revolve around agriculture. I have a degree in animal science and spent the first five years after college in agricultural chemistry," said Red Steagall. "It is with great honor that I represent this scholarship fund to provide assistance to young people who desire to receive an education in agriculture."

Womble Pre-Law Endowed Scholarship

The Womble Pre-Law Endowed Scholarship was created by the Dr. Bob and Jean Smith Foundation of Dallas, funds generated by the endowment will be used to assist CASNR students that are interested in going to law school. It was established in honor of Bill Womble in appreciation for his loyal, dedicated and continuous service as legal counsel to the foundation, and its predecessor Doctors Hospital of Dallas, for more than 40 years, and in recognition of his devotion to excellence, special expertise and professional accomplishments in corporate, securities and business law.

Texas Tech's Soil Judging Team takes first place at Kingsville regional contest

Texas Tech University's Soil Judging Team won first place overall at the Regional Soil Judging Contest held Sept. 25-26 at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Sponsored by the American Society of Agronomy and the Soil Science Society of America, the event included teams from the University of Arkansas, Oklahoma State University, Texas A&M University, and Tarleton State University.

Texas Tech enrollment shatters previous numbers; CASNR contributes 1,958

Texas Tech University officials report record enrollment figures for the sixth-straight year as 35,134 students are in fall classes. The difference of 2,023 students from fall 2013 represents the third-largest increase in a single year since the university opened its doors in 1925.
