GALLERY: Heavy rains don't slow new CASNR's Bayer Plant Science Building
Rain that lashed parts of Texas Tech, and led to flooding and water rescues in the Lubbock area were part of a rare wet May here on the South Plains. But the downpours didn't seem to set the construction crews that far behind schedule as they pressed ahead with CASNR's new Bayer Plant Science Building. The building's outer walls continue to go up and some of the windows are getting glass panels. Eric Hequet, chairman of Tech's Department of Plant and Soil Science, said construction remains on track and the building should be completed by the end of August. The project adds 21,122 square feet of new construction, and includes 2,440 square feet of renovation and exterior upgrades to the existing home of the university's Department of Plant and Soil Science. The building project is funded by donations to Texas Tech, including lead contributions from Bayer CropScience.
