Twenty-seven CASNR students honored as Dean's Scholars Award winners
Top academic standouts from Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources were recognized as Dean's Scholars on Wednesday (Jan. 27) at a special ceremony held in the Student Union Building's Matador Room. The awards, funded by various donations to the college, are based on academic excellence as well as leadership, character and citizenship.
"These scholarships were established by the college to reward academic excellence and to support studious young men and women who choose to major in agricultural and natural sciences," said Michael Galyean, dean of Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
The Gold Award winners are:
- Walker Carson from Turkey
- Ryder Cude from Goree
- Kristina Brumley from Orange Grove
- Leah Kimbrell from Sunray
- Tate Leatherwood from Florence
- Christopher Mitchell from Lubbock
- Cole Perkins from Llano
- Dalton Tidwell from Sherman
- Dakotah Watson from Ralls
Silver Award winners include:
- Sydney Denny from Wesley Chapel, FL
- William Fletcher from Saint Hedwig
- Hannah Ford from Weatherford
- Darby Gonzales from Hondo
- Christopher Gulick from Lubbock
- Dylan Hall from Miami
- Jenna Hay from North Richland Hills
- Kelsey Hickok from Crawford
- Thomas Jennings from Fredonia
- Hannah Johnson from Idalou
- Katelyn Littleton from Los Alamos, NM
- Alexa Major from Lubbock
- Bailey Nelson from Wolfforth
- Michaela Pinder from League City
- Colton Pouncy from San Antonio

- Ciera Ware from Ralls
The Gold Award scholarship is a $14,400 ($3,600 per year for four years) and requires a minimum SAT score of 1,420 or ACT score of 32 and must be in the top 10 percent of graduating class. The Silver Award scholarship is a $9,600 ($2,400 per year for four years) and requires a minimum SAT score of 1,340 or ACT score of 30, and must be in the top 25 percent of graduating class.
