CASNR Awards presented to outstanding faculty, staff at alumni pavilion
Eight faculty and staff members were honored for service and support of Texas Tech University's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources on Friday (Aug. 26) during a special evening ceremony at the university's Frazier Alumni Pavilion.
The 2016 CASNR award recipients included:
• Teaching Award: Cynthia McKenney, Rockwell Endowed Professor of Horticulture in Plant and Soil Science, Department of Plant and Soil Science
• Research Award: TerryMcLendon, Research Professor of Ecosystem Modeling & Large-Scale Watershed Dynamics, Department of Plant and Soil Science
• Junior Faculty Award: Ryan Williams, Assistant Professor, Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics
• Service/Outreach Award: Michael Farmer, Associate Professor, Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics
• Student Advising Award: Glen Ritchie, Associate Professor of Crop Physiology with joint appointment with Texas AgriLife Research, Department of Plant and Soil Science
• Instructor Award: Russ Plowman, Instructor of Garden Center and Nursery Management, Department of Plant and Soil Science
• Staff Award: Julann Curlee, Executive Associate to the Dean, CASNR Dean's Office
• Research Staff Award: Rick Kellison, TAWC Project Manager, Department of Plant and Soil Science
Earlier in the day, CASNR faculty participated in a retreat at the university's International Cultural Center that focused on the benefits and challenges of certificate/multidisciplinary programs and distance education. Two CASNR panel discussions were led by Charles Klein, an associate professor with the Department of Landscape Architecture, and Thayne Montague, an associate professor of horticulture with joint appointment with Texas AgriLife Research. An overview of the college was provided by CASNR Interim Dean Steven Fraze.
