BACC Distinguished Banking Service Award goes to Gary Green
The senior vice president and branch manager of Wellington State Bank in Littlefield has been presented the '2016 Distinguished Banking Service Award.' Gary Green received the honor on Friday (Nov. 4) at the 44th annual Bankers Agricultural Credit Conference (BACC) held at Texas Tech University's International Cultural Center.
"Gary Green's service to the agricultural banking industry and the community of Littlefield has been significant," said Phillip Johnson, chairman of Tech's Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics and director of the university's Thornton Agricultural Finance Institute. "This award recognizes his contribution to agriculture and his community."
The award is given by the Bankers Agricultural Credit Conference to recognize individuals in the banking industry who have made significant contributions to society and whose accomplishments and careers have brought distinctive credit to the financial profession, Johnson said.
Prior to taking his current position, Green served as vice president with Security State Bank in Littlefield, credit administrator at Terra International in Plainview, and regional credit manager with Southern Financial Services in Littlefield. He also worked at the Valley Production Credit Association in Harlingen as a loan officer and vice president.
Green received his bachelor's degree in agricultural business and economics from West Texas State University, and attended the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University, graduating at near the top of his class. He is a member of High Plains Community Capital and serves as director of the Lamb County Advisory Board.
