Norman Martin began work early in 2006 as the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources’ new communications and marketing specialist. Prior to joining Texas Tech, he served as a science editor with New Mexico State University’s agricultural communications department for 4.5 years.
Before that Martin oversaw editorial content for AutoCentral.com, an automotive industry website operated by VerticalNet. For almost 10 years, he worked as managing editor of Automotive Industries magazine, based in Philadelphia and Detroit. In addition, he worked 10 years at Texas A&M University, including four years with the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station’s communications staff.
A native of Matador, Martin earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in mass communications, both from Texas Tech University. During his tenure at Texas Tech, he has focused on significantly upgrading the CASNR Web site and developing news stories about CASNR faculty and students.
Martin says, “It’s a challenging time to get our story told in the media, but we have no higher priority in the communications office than to excel in telling Texans about CASNR’s good works.”
