The Gardens of Europe program takes students to premiere gardens and historical sites in Europe. As part of the program students gain insight into European universities and academic curricula and experience other cultures through the history of gardens, as well as garden design and plant usage. Program participants visited gardens of England in 2004 and gardens of Italy in 2006.

This year the Gardens of France, Luxembourg, and Belgium are scheduled. Among the benefits to the students are becoming better acquainted with European culture and heritage through public and private gardens, introduction to the profession of international horticulture, and a better understanding of the plant materials cultivated in Europe.
