Guilherme Picinin , Ph.D. Student

Guilherme Picinin graduated in 2013 from Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, in Veterinary Medicine. During his years in veterinary school, he worked with food safety and swine production. In 2009, he received an honorable mention at the XVIII Week Initiation for his research on swine biosecurity in Minas Gerais State. While completing his degree, he was author/co-author of 11 papers and articles published in scientific journals Conferences, and animal producer's association magazines. He worked as an intern on one of the biggest swine farms in the United States in 2011 and did a short internship at Dr. McGlone's lab, where he came back as a PhD student after graduating in Brazil in 2013. At the Laboratory of Animal Behavior, Physiology, and Welfare he is a Research Assistant and his research is focused in alternative methods of physical castration in swine and meat quality.
