David J. Isern, ARdP, Assoc. AIA, is currently the Director of Communications and Outreach and Architecture design faculty at Texas Tech College of Architecture (TTU CoA). As Director of Communications and Outreach, David oversees the communications, branding, social networking, and all printed and digital media for the CoA. From 2014-2016 David was the Coordinator for the 2016 CoA NAAB Digital Accreditation. This accreditation was the first all-in-house digital process in the state of Texas and one of the first of its kind nationwide. The results of this accreditation granted the CoA an eight-year accreditation.


David holds a Professional Master of Architecture with a concentration in Urban Community Design as well as a Master of Business Administration with a focus on information systems and social networking in urban development. Currently, his research looks at low-income housing in Latin America and how these initiatives were able to transform middle and upper-class culture and the city. More closely, David has looked at Peruvian housing development from the 60s to the 90s and its impact on the development and fast growth of today's Peruvian cities.


During his professional studies and upon graduation, David worked at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) and Pentagram and as a lead designer for Lorinza General Contractors S.R.L, an architecture firm in Peru. He was the recipient of the TSD Bronze Medal Award in 2014 and the AIA Henry Adams Medal in 2015 for his exemplary design work during his graduate studies. David was selected to be part of the Forbes 30 under 30 in Latin America 2019 and is part of the 30 under 30 Council. Currently, David is working on different projects through his design and creative direction studio, davidjisern.com, where he looks to create the best designs through thoughtful and inspiring projects that foster community engagement.

David is a member of the Forbes Communications Council, where he is a contributor and expert voice on their publications.  He is a member of the Colegio de Arquitectos del Perú and an Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects.
