Art 5360 Art Seminar : Various topics

Art 5361 Critical Pedagogy in the Visual Arts : Introduction to curriculum materials and technology to develop awareness of and practice in innovative procedures for teaching visual arts disciplines.

Art 5362: Historical Survey of the Teaching of Art : Survey of the historic growth of art education in Europe and America.

Art 5363 Research Methods in the Visual Arts (core): A survey of research methods applicable to the visual arts.

Types of Related Art courses offered in the summer on the TTU Lubbock campus. These vary by year and you must register for them in late fall or early spring. (select 3 or 4 courses):
            Digital Art
            Contemporary Art
            Graduate Drawing
            Graduate Painting
            Graduate Photography
            Graduate Printmaking
            Graduate Ceramics
            Graduate Metal and Jewelry Design

Examples of a Minor (select 2 or 3 courses outside of the School of Art):
            Education courses
            Anthropology courses
            Business courses
            Science courses
            Literature, Music, or Dance courses

Capstone 6 Credit Hours: (select thesis, professional report, or artistic/studio problem). The MAE committee serving for any of the 3 options should consist of 2 art education faculty from the TTU School of Art. The 3rd member may be selected from TTU School of Art graduate faculty. Note:

The following 3 options are in lieu of a Comprehensive Exam.

Art 6000: Thesis (for those planning to pursue a Ph.D. and publication)
Proposal: Follow thesis proposal guidelines and submit proposal for committee approval.
Oral Presentation: In conjuction with a written document present your thesis to the committee.
Written Presentation: Follow thesis guidelines for format and style.
Art 6001: Professional Report (for those interested in developing a project)
Proposal: Submit a proposal for committee approval.
Oral Presentation: In conjunction with a written document present your project to the committee.
Written Presentation: Follow a consistent and recognized format and style.
Art 6002: Artistic/studio Problem (for those defining artistic problems within or across the media)
Proposal: Reflect upon prior coursework and personal development to articulate an artistic problem to pursue in two studio courses. Submit a proposal for committee approval.
Oral Presentation: In conjunction with an exhibit of art work present a statement of artistic intent.
Exhibit Art: Present an exhibit in Lubbock, or other prearranged site that shows the pursuit of an artistic problem.
