LARRY BAMBURG (1997 BFA painting and sculpture, currently living in New York City) has made a piece for PICA's Time Based Art Festival which opens early September in Portland, OR. Preview the work at http://www.pica.org/tba/tba07/detail.aspx?eventid=237
MICHAEL FRELS, who graduated with a BFA in photography in May, will be working for the Peace Corps in Morocco beginning September 2007.
MEGAN GRANN, who graduated in Art History and French with highest honors in May, is now teaching English with the Peace Corps in Benin, Africa.
WESLEY HARVEY, a recent MFA graduate in ceramics from Van Buren, IN, has taken the full-time position of Landmark Arts Exhibits Preparator and Assistant Curator, starting in September 2007. Wesley was one of the artists included in the group exhibition 2007 Clay Invitational: Alternative Firings presented at the G Gallery in Houston in August.
KATY HEINLIEN (1999 MFA in sculpture of Houston) has been announced (September 17th) as the winner, from a field of ten finalists, of the Miami University $10,000 National Young Sculptors Competition for the William and Dorothy Yeck Purchase Award. Selected by juror, Mary Ceruti, Executive Director of SculptureCenter in New York City, the finalists were exhibited at the Heistand Galleries, Miami University in Oxford, OH in August and September. Heinlien will receive the $10,000 purchase prize and become part of the Miami University Best Young Sculptors of the Twenty-First Century Collection.
MARIE WEICHMAN (2000 MFA in ceramics, currently living in Houston) and IAN F. THOMAS (2006 MFA in ceramics, currently living in Butler, PA) along with current 3rd year MFA candidate in ceramics, Dryden Wells, will have a 3-person exhibition at the Las Cruces Museum of Art, New Mexico during February-April 2008. The exhibition will feature work created at the Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China during their recent summer residencies there.
